Minty Musings

This is today. Outside it looks like this…

It’s too cold to stay outside and do this…

So I came inside to scrap this…

It’s a beautiful, gorgeous, magnificently magical day today in Toronto – unless you’re driving and then it’s a total nightmare. But from where I sit it is absolutely GORGEOUS. Big chunky snowflakes are falling from the sky, dancing across my window. Everything is WHITE. And quiet. And peaceful. And pretty. And caked in thick white fluffy snow. It sparkles just a little bit. I want to put on my snow pants, run outside, find a giant pile and jump in. But I’m 34. So I won’t.

I took a walk instead.

It was refreshing. And freezing. And FUN.

I didn’t last too long. It was really cold out and I am pretty sure I was experiencing early onset frost bite in my right hand fingers from taking my hand out of my glove to take snowy selfies like any self-respecting super cool Canadian with a cute hat and a camera phone would do.

Once I came in and defrosted I sat down to scrap these fun pictures I took last summer while shopping at Target while on vacation in Maine. I spotted the adult onesie and once I stopped laughing decided I had to try one on….literally for the sole purpose of taking a onesie selfie. I told you. I’m super cool like that.

I was actually trying to scrap a page for this month’s PMP Template Challenge but somehow ended up with a page that bears positively no resemblance to this month’s template.

It started off looking exactly like this but then I envisioned huge black letters running down the side so I started manoeuvring things around and around and around and ended up with something totally different. And thats ok. Templates are meant to get your creativity flowing, not restrict it. So download this month’s template FREE and see what you come up with.

Time to get back to work to finish some fab new designs!

If you’re scrapping or crafting today be sure to share your Minty pages in the gallery or in our Facebook group. I love to see what you’re creating.

Overdressed to answer emails? I think not. I’m fancy.

Actually I’m not. Particularly when answering emails but this fabulous necklace just arrived so naturally I had to try it on…immediately…over my Queen t-shirt from Target. It matched my oatmeal colored slippers after all. And then I felt fancy so I left it on for a while. Cause that’s how we rock the emails here at Peppermint Creative.

Hey Mint Chicklets! Popping in for a quick second to share this photo because it made me laugh. I was setting up to photograph a new memory game printable that will be ready for you this week when I turned around for a second to get something and someone decided it was a nice place to lie down – right in my shot. Crazy cat.

I seriously don’t know why I bother to buy her toys. She’s so smitten with paper and cardboard boxes.

Check back before the weekend for an awesome free printable for the kids.

I came across this poem called “There’s A Hole In My Sidewalk,” by Portia Nelson last year by coincidence (if you believe in that) when I was going through a rough time. I was moping on the couch flipping channels when I came across a PBS lecture by Dr. Wayne Dyer.  He recited it as part of his inspirational talk about life’s choices and I was very in the mood for a little therapy so I was all ears. I loved it. It really resonated with me and stayed with me for quite some time.

Then I forgot about it.

Today a friend happen to mention it in passing and coincidentally (again, if you believe in that) it would seem as though I am due to read it again.

So I did.

I thought you guys might get something out of it I thought I’d share:

There’s A Hole In My Sidewalk
– by Portia Nelson

Chapter One

I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost… I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

Chapter Two

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in the same place.
But it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

Chapter Three

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in… it’s a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault… I get out immediately.

Chapter Four

I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.

Chapter Five

I walk down another street.

Does it resonate with you?

Hope it gave you something to think about today.

HOUSEKEEPING! Time to catch up on some important business. Looks like I’ve fallen behind in posting our most recent challenge winners. Way to go Miss Mint. High five. My sincerest apologies. I got all wrapped up in design mode for the last little while and it would seem that my mind can only focus on one thing at a time.

I am THRILLED beyond words to be typing my very first blog post from my shiny (well actually it’s more of a matte silver) new laptop. I feel so fancy. Everything WORKS….and FAST. Are you jealous? You should be.

Things aren’t crashing or freezing (yet). It’s a miracle! Seriously SO excited. Did I mention that I was excited? I’m excited. Even transferred everything over myself. I have to brag because it was no picnic. My email database corrupted and would not transfer or export. I called a local service expert who said he could give a try at $95 an hour but that Entourage databases were notoriously fickle and that he wasn’t too hopeful. So I had a go at it myself. And guess who did it? That’s right. This chick right here thank you very much. After some extensive Googling and some trial and plenty of error I got it done. Very pleased with myself (insert pat on the back).

So now that I’m mostly up and running it’s time to catch up on some important stuff. It’s time announce the winners for some of our most recent contests so congratulations to the following scrappers. You’ve won a $5 gift card to Peppermint Creative.
