Hybrid Team Member Jolynn (aka Pixelista) crafted up the most adorable circus themed invitation and concession ticket for her son’s birthday party. Check out the tutorial below outlining how she put this masterpiece together.

Ladies & Gentlemen…step right up, be the first to see {Insert child’s name here} turn {insert age here} for the ONE & ONLY TIME!!

What person, no matter your age doesn’t enjoy a good circus with all its wonder and amazement? Utilizing a variety of components from several of Miss Mint’s super digital scrapbooking kits and commercial vectors by Tay Silver I was able to capture the magic of the circus into a fun vintage flare birthday invitation and complimentary concessions voucher.

Supplies Used:

Creating the Digital File:

INVITATION: Set your canvas to 8.5” long x 4” wide. Take the digital vectors from the CIRCUS – commercial vector art and modify them with your colour choices in your scrapbooking software.  Using the marquee tool I copied and recoloured the buntings so they would alternate red & blue with the yellow string. Then I layered and applied shadows to them over top of the other frames and borders form the assorted kits as shown in the photo. I recoloured  most of the papers and elements to maintain continuity throughout the invitation and concessions voucher through applications in my software. A variety of free available were paired to compliment the circus feel to communicate the necessary information about the party “WHO, WHAT, WHERE & WHEN”.

Font suggestions:

Champaigne & Limousines |  Budmo Jiggler |  Circus |  Honey Script

The pennant for highlighting “CIRQUE DU ETHAN” was made using standard shapes within my scrapbooking software and coloured to accent the event, then a shadow was applied to this also. A duplicate was copied and set to the side of the invitation to use for layering purposes later (as was the elephant vector).

CONCESSIONS VOUCHER:  The invitation once completed was copied and rotated it 90 degrees, elements were stretched, removed, cropped and relocated to allow for customization for the free concessions offers.  Then a “validation” stamp and code were put on for authenticity.  (I haven’t a clue if this is even possible or just as an addition to the invite to let the folks know they will be treated to some goodies at the circus!)

I printed my files once satisfied with their final appearances at high quality. I placed 1 invite & concessions voucher plus the pop up elements per sheet of textured white card stock but you could use ivory or kraft to add a more vintage feel.

Once printed and cut, assembly is pretty simple. I added foam adhesives to the areas that I wanted pop-up and accentuate. (I did the “CIRQUE DU ETHAN” banner & the Elephant plus the round star brad).

Then I added a small dab of glue to the location for the googly eyes and apply the eye.
