September 2011

You won’t believe it but it’s true…I’ve got MORE new goodies on their way!

Very, very EXCITED about this Fall/Thanksgiving themed kit. Lots of fall goodness in this one. Me thinks you’re going to love it. Rave reviews from the team and they’re a tough crowd ;).

So check out this bad boy.

This is my fancy new USB microphone for my Mac and it only cost me $30 BUCKS thanks to SWAG BUCKS. It’s this nifty little search engine that gives you points for searching. You can trade in your points for gift cards and I’ve been redeeming mine for Amazon.ca gift cards. I’d collected over $100 in Amazon gift cards and decided it was time to cash in. (Amazon.com also available). I highly recommend giving it a try. I just pop in once a day and type in several random searches until it awards me some points. Sometimes it doesn’t and I come back later. You can also earn points by entering bonus codes and answering the survey of the day. You also earn points through referrals. So if you sign up using this link (pretty please) then I will earn some points from you. And then you get your own referral link when you sign up so you can earn points when your friends sign up.

The best tip for earning points that I’ve found is to check out the Swag Bucks Facebook page. People post the words or phrases that won them points. I start at the top and try the most recent winning phrases and usually one of them gets me some points. I don’t know why as it’s supposed to totally random!

I’ve been dying for a microphone so I’m super excited. Excellent sound quality on this bad boy so if I can get my shit together I might even put together a tutorial or two. Yipppeeeeee.

In totally unrelated news. I went to Michael’s yesterday and found this monogram tape in the sale bin. It cost me like 60 cents. I thought it was pretty cool. I grabbed the ‘P’ for Pam (in case you didn’t know my real name) and for Peppermint Creative of course, but I have no idea what to do with it. I was hoping it was transparent this it’s actually like a milky white.

What do I do with it? Any ideas?

Let me know!

Where my JEWS at?

I’m allowed to say that because I’m Jewish…right?

Wednesday marks the first evening of Rosh Hashana which is the Jewish New Year. We celebrate with a big thanksgiving style dinner with our extended family. I think it’s as close to Thanksgiving as us Jews get. So naturally when you’re going to someone’s house you usually bring something. A bottle of wine, some chocolates, cookies…something. So I thought I would make up some gift tags to jazz up your Rosh Hashana offerings. And since it’s not the easiest to find cute Jewish stuff I felt an obligation as one of the few Jewish digital scrapbook designers to create something for ya and I’m sharing it for FREE…because I love my Jewish peeps! (And my non-Jewish peeps too, of course).

Everyone will think you’re SO fancy. It’s all in the presentation people! These are pretty versatile so whatever you decide to bring – dress it up!

Included in your free Rosh Hashana Printable Gift Tags you will find a wine tag, a standard gift tag and a small round tag (sized for a 2″ paper punch) that you can either use on small gifts, individual bags of cookies or you could print them on printable sticker paper and make your own stickers! This download comes with a print-ready PDF if you are in a rush or are not so digitally inclined and with individual PNG files if you want to compile your own printable sheet or add your name with a font instead of writing it in after printing.

Upgraded | tkeetch
Well…hello there! Gotta love a handy man. There’s nothing worse than a guy who can’t use a screwdriver. I mean, it’s a screwdriver for crying out loud! I just LOVE the mix of kits here as well as the wonderful layout design. This is definitely the perfect home reno page!

Our Flower Garden | tkeetch
Another gorgeous page from Tiff! So he’s puts up drywall and he gardens too? If I happen across a page of him cooking or doing the laundry I’m not talking to you anymore. ;)

first cellphone | Keela
Aww, he is SO proud! Love the subtle use of elements on this one including the neat burn effects of the stamps!

Crochet | Mommy2Talesia
This page really makes me want to run out and learn how to crochet! How cute are those little crochet critters? Not good news for me as I have to go to Michael’s today to pick up a frame so I hope I don’t get lost in the yarn aisle!

Creative Little Artist | my2monkeys
Great use of black and white images on this one, they really stand out and let the colors of these papers pop. Amazing layering of elements too!

Our Garden | KirstieGai
The vibrant colors of these pictures are like a breath of fresh summer air! They really stand up well against the colors of the papers used. I love the very cute placement of the watering can! It sort of looks like it’s watering the photos.

My Man |JamWest1007
This is so great – doesn’t it look like he’s floating across the page? I love the feel of this along with the bright tropical colors. It really makes me wish it was still summer!

High School Senior and Freshman | Gabby
Did you notice how the colors and design of this one were heavily inspired by the boys t-shirt? How clever!!

Sewing Project | Gabby
Love it! I love how these two papers were used to create a very soft color scheme when this kit (Artsy Fartsy) is PACKED with color! I love the neat punch out effect created with the flourish in the background too.

The Boy and Bevo | Cherry Limeade
Cute! C’mon look at that face! I love the bright, strong colors. I think so much use of orange really makes this page a stand out. Love the split title too!

Fall | Lisa Reid
Such a sweet fall page! I just love the bold use of white space and of course the use of the scrabble style alphabet as that is one of my all time favorites!

This is Us | Gabby
I love it! The photo booth pics are so so so cute! Love the collection of them and how this page was made to look like they were pinned on a corkboard. So clever!

And that’s the scoop for this week’s edition of Mint-spirational Monday.
Hope you’re feeling Mint-spired. ;)

Just saw this on Yahoo! News and had to share…hope it makes you smile this morning.

Less than a month ago, Bruce and Esther Huffman, who live in a retirement community in Oregon, upgraded to a new laptop. They got an Aqua One because Esther liked the colour. Their granddaughter tried to teach them how to use the new webcam and must have done some things correctly because the couple managed to record themselves. They just didn’t know it.

For almost three minutes the couple, who were trying to take a still picture, stared into the camera wondering how to capture a photo. They may not have captured any still photos, but they did manage to hit record on the video function and spent three minutes making goofy faces and just being themselves. Their granddaughter saw the file on their computer and posted it to YouTube with the title “webcam 101 for seniors.” The video quickly went viral making the candid elderly couple Internet celebrities.”

I almost snorted my morning smoothie out my nose around the 2 minute mark when he suggested that she drop her dress a little and show her boobies. ROFL.

OMG.

My parents are taking a little vaycay in Newfoundland. If you are unfamiliar, it’s a province in the eastern part of Canada. They are attending a conference at the end of week so they went early to do a little touring. When they’re away they send me email updates. My Dad now has a Blackberry and has figured out how to use the camera and email the photos.

This was in my inbox this morning…

My parents are in Dildo, Newfoundland.

FOR REALS YO.

Apparently, this is actually a place.

Is he holding the sign over his man parts on purpose?

I know I’m 32 years old which technically qualifies me a grown up but I was a LITTLE disturbed that (a) my parents know what a dildo is and (b) that they think that I know what it is.

Is it just me?

Well, this evening Grandma calls to ask if I’ve heard from my parents to make sure they’re ok blah, blah, blah so I tell her yes and start to giggle thinking about the email. She asks why I’m laughing and I figure since we’re all adults I’ll let her in on the joke. So I tell her they are in Dildo.

Well. Turns out my 86 year old Grandma is the one who doesn’t know what a dildo it is.

AWKWARD.

Umm..it’s a sex toy Grandma.

She got confused and wanted to know why they are were in a town with sex toys.

Oy vey.

I don’t really know what the story is behind this picture but I thought it was funny.

Those Newfies are a wild bunch.

Pardon my randomness…that’s all for now!
