That’s right! Facebook is the the place to be my crafty friends – it’s the best way to stay up to date on all the cool stuff happening at PC…sadly even better than this ‘ol blog. Hopefully that will change in the new year but let’s be realistic – it probably won’t. So head on over and let’s get to 2000 fans before 2011!!!

Hi ladies! I’m back with another fun project. ‘Tis the season to be creative festive crafts, right? So today we’re going to make ourselves a cool starburst ornament. And again, even if you are not so hybrid-inclined this is a super easy project. All you need is a printer, a ruler, a craft knife and a hole punch.

I’ve included the file as you see here and as a layered template in PSD and TIFF format so that you can create your own using your favorite digital papers. So either print out the print-ready PDF or create your own, flatten the file and print on an 8.5×11” paper. Use paper with a bit of weight to it like photo paper or cardstock.

You’re going to cut this out with a craft knife and cork back ruler (to prevent sliding). You can cut the overall star shape with scissors but you will need the knife to cut the lines in each ‘layer’.

You can see what I mean here. You have to make slits all the way around except for in the centre because that’s what holds the thing together. It’s hard to tell by this picture but you will see the lines clearly on the file. You might have to use scissors like these trusty Cutterbee Scissors if your knife doesn’t cut all the way through like mine did…or you can stop being lazy and just change the blade…like I didn’t.

Once it’s all cut out punch a little hole at the top and start gently bending the different layers in opposite directions. Basically just play with it until it looks good.

And hey what do you know! You’ve got a pretty nifty looking ornament!

And as an added bonus it makes a great cat toy.

Wanna play too? Purchase here for just $2.00.

Hybrid Christmas Frame
Project & Tutorial by: Joscie Cutchens
Aloha Minty Fans, it’s Joscie back again to share a super easy and cute photo frame decoration. I picked up this 7 gypsies photo holder from a local scrapbook store and knew it would be easy to decorate and change up as the seasons change.

·I started out by printing up 3 patterned papers from Miss Mint’s Cherry Berry Christmas on American Crafts Textured Cardstock.
·I cut them at 4×6”.
·I embellished each piece.
· I added silver stickles to some white Thickers numbers
· Punched an oval out of silver paper
· I added a velvet Poppy and Pearl Brad to the edge of the oval
· I added Gradient Pearl Stickers from Creative Charms around the edge of the oval
· When the stickles were dry I stuck the Thickers in the middle of the oval
· I adhered the oval to the patterned paper
· I adhered a silver doily to the patterned paper and cut off the edge with my paper trimmer
· I added a rosette to the center of the doily
· I added a vintage jewel to the center of the rosette
· I tied a big bow with silver satin ribbon and added a Stick Pin from Maya Road
· I added a Christmas gift bag to the patterned paper, trimmed off the excess
· I pleated a little piece of pink ribbon and stitched it down with my machine
· I machine stitched around the entire edge of the card
· I added a vintage jewel to the top of the tree
In photoshop I opened a landscape family photo and changed it to black and white. I
I set the crop tool to crop a 4”x6” 300 dpi of the left side of the photo.
I printed this on a 4×6 borderless print on my printer.
Ctrl-Z to undo the crop and re crop at 4”x6” 300dpi of the right side of the photo.
I printed this photo on a 4×6 borderless print on my printer.
I used a single glue dot to adhere each print or embellishment to each photo area for easy removal later.
Thanks for stopping by!

Minty Christmas Decorations
Project & Tutorial by: Joscie Cutchens
Aloha Minty Fans, it’s Joscie checking in to share a fun and easy Christmas decoration idea we’ve been working on around our home. When I was shopping in my local craft store, I found these unfinished wooden snowflakes and dreamed of a glittery, glimmery mintified garland project. I picked up 8 for about $.70 a piece.
I set up a little painting station and let my boys paint these up with white acrylic paint and then set them aside to dry.
I followed up the paint with Tattered Angels Glaze in Icicle to add a glossy shimmer to the snowflakes and set them aside to dry again.
Rosettes
I love the look of rosettes and I especially love the Tim Holtz Sizzix die that makes it so easy!
I printed up a few papers from Miss Mint’s Cherry Berry Christmas onto textured cardstock from American Crafts and then trimmed them into 2” strips. I run these through my big shot with the Tim Holtz die and cut 9 rosette strips.
I took each strip and accordion folded them.
I added a little strip of adhesive to one end.
I adhered it to the other end to form a loop. Fuss with it a little bit, pushing the center together and voila, a rosette!
I punched one circle for each rosette and used a glue dot to adhere the circle to the back of the rosette to hold it in place.
I punched a white flower with my imaginisce punch and a patterned flower with my Martha Stewart Cornflower Punch.
I layered these on top of each rosette with glue dots.
I added Gradient Pearl Stickers from Creative Charms in the center of each flower.
One large pearl surrounded by four smaller pearls.
I used another glue dot to adhere a rosette to each snowflake.
When it came time to put these snowflakes together as a garland I was stumped. I thought about tying ribbon or baker’s twine or stringing it onto glittery garland but it just would not hang right for me so I decided to make these into ornaments to hang. Believe it or not, we don’t have a fireplace here so we have a shelf in my kitchen that we decorate like a mantle. It has pegs where we hang our stockings and I just added a little baker’s twine to hang one snowflake from each peg.
Even though these did not turn into a garland, I am happy with the result. I will be back later to share a few more Christmas decorations I’ve created. Let me know if you have any questions and I’ll do my best to address them.
