Monster Corn Holders
By: Claire Skeps

October brings at least one Spooky Movie Family Night to our house. I love Halloween and just can’t help but enjoy it all month long. So this fun, fast hybrid project provided a fun way for us all to celebrate together. This year I just couldn’t resist Miss Mint’s awesome Popcorn Box Template to create the perfect Monster Corn Box to provide the mood!

picture-1

Step One
Open the template and use your favourite Halloween papers and embellishments to create the holder. I used paper from Monster Mash Add On and Kooky Spooky. I also used embellishments from Hocus Pocus and the Feltabet Alphabet – Spooks. Drop in the papers and clip (CNTRL+G for Adobe users) where appropriate. Although I did not use Miss Mint’s Popcorn label that was provided, I did want to keep my label looking similar.

Step Two
Print out two copies of your design on to cardstock or heavy Matte Paper. I used Canon Heavyweight Matte Paper. Cut out your two designs. This is so awesomely simple. All I needed was a pair of regular old kitchen scissors. Fold at the fold lines provided. To get nice firm creases, I fold one way and then the other way.

Step Three
Tape together the two pieces. You can place tape on one little fold flap and then line up the other piece along it. Press firmly.

Then put tape along the other little fold flap and line up the other free edge. When you line up the edges, your project will start to come together as a box. When you press down, you can flatten the box at the folds.

Fold in two opposing bottom flaps and place tape on them.

Picture-5

Fold over the other two opposing bottom flaps over these. Place your and in the pop corn holder to press the bottom against your work surface.

Step Four
Fill and enjoy!! (Monster Corn is just Toffee Corn mixed with Candy Corn and Reese’s Pieces.)

Now time for you to go hybrid up some family time too.
Happy Halloween!

Ladies ladies LADIES!!! My little Mint Chickadees are SOOOOO talented, BOY do I have an OVERFLOW of good stuff to post this week. Keep your eyes peeled because I have TWO adorable Halloween tutorials ready to go and an AWESOME new MBM challenge that we all have to try as well as a Click-a-Pic Challenge that we have no excuse NOT to partake in PLUS a super special Halloween treat. Got all that? I’m not sure where to start!!!

Ok I’ll start with the challenges and I’ll post Halloween Hybrid Tutorial #1 later today. Is it considered a blog faux pas to post twice in one day? Let’s be rebels and DO IT.

Join this week’s Click-a-Pic Challenge
If you’ve been eyeing the Click-a-Pic Challenges and have been meaning to play along this week you have no excuse. None, I say!! We want to see your two most favourite photos. So you don’t even have to TAKE a new picture – just post one. You can do that right? So dig through your hard drive and post your two best shots for us to ‘oohh and ‘ahh’ over and you might just walk away with one very shiny Minty Buck (aka a $1 GC to PC).

Join this week’s Mixed Bag Monday Challenge
If photography ain’t your thing you can join Cindy for this weeks Mixed Bag Monday Challenge. This week your challenge is to shrink – yes I said SHRINK – a template. ‘Why would you do such a thing?’ you might ask…and I’m so glad you did because Cindy would be only too pleased to explain:

(1) you can make use of templates that are not quite your style but you like the design

(2) you can get a totally different look from a template that you have already used before….make the most of your $$$!

(3) Use those photos that might not be of great quality…the ones taken with your old 2 megapixel camera back. It’s not quite as noticeable how bad the pictures are when you shrink them!

Here are some examples…think of the POSSIBILITIES!!!

So come play with us this week. If you have any questions don’t be SHY!!! ;) See you in the forum! (Click COMMUNITY and set up an account – it’s FREE!)

I was in the midst of compiling lists of infomercial junk that I either want, don’t want or already have for this entertaining thread here. But I couldn’t remember the names of some of the products so I was Googling and accidentally found this.

What’s this world coming too? LOL.

Do you have infomercial likes, dislikes – a wishlist perhaps? I want to hear all about it.
Share your must have’s and have not’s here.

What’s on my ‘NO THANKS I’ll save my 3 easy payments of $19.99 thank you very much’ List?

Aloha ladies, Joscie here! In the spirit of Halloween, I’ve created a little monster gift bag that I call Frankenbag.

JCutchens_frankenbag

The digital materials are:

Miss Mint’s Mini Gift Bag Template
Miss Mint’s DIY Doodles Edges
Miss Mint’s Soopa Sunburst Patterned Papers

The other materials are:

Royal Brites Matte Photo Paper
HP all in one printer
QK silhouette (but you could use a scissors)
3M Scotch ATG
Mini Glue dots
American Crafts Black Buttons
googly eyes
Bazzill Basics Needles
Black Crochet Thread
Making Memories Large Brads
Large eyelets
Tulle
Scissors
candy or other goodies to fill

I started out with the Mini Gift Bag template and added Miss Mint’s Soopa Sunburst Halloween Patterned Paper in Green and black. I used Miss Mint’s DIY Doodled Edges for the Franken Hair.

I saved a copy as a JPG to be imported and printed from my craft robo software, but if you’re going to use a scissors, you can simply print from photoshop on to matte photo paper.

JCutchens_frankenbag3

I cut it out using my print and cut technique on my silhouette (but you can use a scissors too).

I used mini glue dots to adhere the googly eyes to black buttons and then more glue dots to attach the buttons to the face. I threaded up a needle with black crochet thread to stitch a mouth under the eyes.

The finishing touch before constructing the box was to add knobs on the side of the box. First I cut a little slit in the side of the package. I used Making Memories Jumbo brads in silver and We R Memory Keepers large silver eyelets as a spacer between the brad and the package.

I folded the bag, used my ATG to adhere the bag tabs in place, added some tulle and candy to the bag, and voila, a monster was born! There are endless ways to decorate these adorable bags! Check out Friedabag! ;)
