BOOO!! ;)
That’s all.

You asked for it! YouTube Tuesday is back. (Click the ‘YouTubeTuesday’ link under Categories in the sidebar to view past video selections). Every Tuesday I will delight you with a new video (assuming I can find one…and that I don’t forget ;)…so sit back, relax and enjoy!

This one is already a YouTube favorite. Adorable brothers filming a home video when big brother tempts baby Charlie with his finger. His reaction (and the way he says Charlie) is funny.

Straight from the America’s Funniest Home Videos Vault, this one is of a little girl who’s literally scared of her own shadow. LOL

Have a great day!

Tay (Adobe*Addict) here with some tips and tricks to hybriding on a budget.

If you’re new to hybriding, you’ve probably realized that it’s essential (and fun!) to have a mix of embellishments on-hand for accenting your projects. Unfortunately you might also discover that you’re only using one or two things out of an entire embellishment pack and there’s no good way to get a big, random mix of supplies without buying tons and tons of embellishments. Until manufacturers figure out this market niché need, we’ll have to get creative! Here are my secrets to staying well-stocked for cheap:

Etsy.com: This site is like an eBay for all things handmade. It’s full of crafters and artisans like you and I who sell thousands of tempting items. The best part is Etsy allows supply selling. This means you can hop on any time of day or night and find a gorgeous mix of brand new embellishments that someone else is looking to get rid of. Narrow your search by selecting to only view items in the ‘Supply’ category and then use keywords like ‘scrapbook’ or ‘embellishment’. If you need a specific type of item, like brads or buttons, enter those words too. The search will return hundreds of listings with gorgeous mixes at very low prices.

eBay: It’s not quite as specialized as Etsy but if you’re looking to buy basic supplies in larger quantities, you will have good luck. Try searching for common misspellings (scrapbok) to find the best deals!

Embellishment Swaps: These are usually arranged among friends, either locally or online. You can do it with just one other friend or as a whole group. All you do is go through your embellishments, pull out items that you don’t want, won’t use or have too many of, package them up and ship them to a friend. The friend does the same for you and suddenly your stash has doubled, giving you dozens of new options when hybriding. This is the easiest and cheapest way to increase your supplies, not to mention the most fun!

Clearance Aisle: My local Hobby Lobby has a clearance aisle in the very back corner of the store. It’s often a mess but worth digging through! I have found tubes of American Crafts embellishments marked as low as $1.99 each (Retail Price: $5.99) and huge packs of scrapbooking flowers for $1.29 (Retail Price: $4.99). A majority of the items I use are from the clearance aisle. As a twist on an embellishment swap, you can half your clearance aisle finds with an out-of-state friend and have her do the same since every store will have something different.

So there you have it – my secrets of how I get so many supplies for so little money! If you have any other secrets to share, leave a comment!

Continuing with the hybrid series, (catch the first two here: Board Books Albums  Matchbook Albums) I was super excited to attempt a CD album for the first time. This was probably the most time challenging of the three projects so far. Not because it was all that difficult, but because cutting circles by hand can be a bit of a b*tch. But to be honest, it really wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

So here’s what winter looks like in Canada. I thought it would be fun to share since so many of you have never been to Canada and some of you probably haven’t even ever seen so much snow – or snow at all for that matter. Trust me, you’re not really missing out. Yes it’s pretty….pretty, to look at, but not so pretty to walk your dog in, or drive your car in, or to run from your car into the mall in as the grey slush splashes into your shoes and up your legs and leaves your pants with a salt stained ring around the bottom of each cuff. No, I’m not bitter. I’m just cold. And wet and a little bit salty.

We don’t have this much snow all winter. We happen to have several really heavy snowfalls within a two week period and it’s been so flippin’ cold that nothing has melted. There’s poor Chase under the cabana. He does not appreciate the cold or the snow and would much rather sun bathe in Florida. He’s cool with the snow when it’s a semi-warm day and if the snow is ‘fluffy’. As soon as it starts to freeze over and gets crunchy he wants no part of it.

So it was a fluffy snow day but it was bitterly cold. Chase actually didn’t want to jump in the snow…I kind of dragged him in for the sake of the picture. (tee hee…oops). I just wanted to show you how deep it was. It’s all the way up to his pits!

Once he was in, he got into it a little bit…

And check out his rocking Toronto Maple Leafs doggie coat. Actually I just sewed the team patch to a Roots Pet jacket but it looks like it came that way. I think he looks super cool in it. Too bad the Leafs suck.
