So now I’m starting Team-tastic Tuesdays were I’ll pick out some of my ultra favorite team pages to share with you for your inspiration and entertainment. Mon 29 Sep 2008
Hi everyone! Missy (missy3lilbugs) here with the first ever Mint-spirational Monday. Each Monday myself or Keela will be picking out some "Mintspirational" pages from gallery and sharing them with you on the forum and here on the blog. We want to highlight those distinctive marks and attention getting ideas that pull your pages together.
Lets begin with some of those awesome PMP (Pimp My Page) Challenge layouts.
Cool Summer Splash – Mrs. Potts
I really like how she changed the template to make it her own. She added the scalloped border and layered it to give dimension. The use of different kits was the finishing touch. It helps to go through all those other element packs and see what you can pull out and use.

Boy Country – DownHome
This page is such a standout. The October Rust kit goes perfectly her sweet country photo. I love how she extracted one of her boys arms from the series of pictures. It’s that added detail that makes the layout shine.
OH and what about those wonderful TRA pages. Wowee!
Me at 25 – goldengirls2
This page is gorgeous. The red background with the custom wave shapes are a great touch. The red really makes her photo pop and the waves add some movement to the page. The layering and detail work is just perfect.

Measuring Up – KimJ
Kim’s page is so cleverly designed and titled. I just love it! I love all the bits and pieces that all relate and describe little things about herself. Make sure you take the time to really look at this page. It’s so fun and well done.
Me, Irene – Scrappie Irene
Irene’s darling black and white photo of her as a baby is wonderfully highlighted when placed on top of Miss Mint’s Massive Splat Mat. The mat helped her photo standout even more than it would have if she left it on the busy floral paper. The cluster and the strips on the edges were a great touch.
… and last but not least a few random pages.
Sisters – AquaRuby
This page really caught my eye. I really like all the white space around the photo. The fall papers and elements are minimal but nicely done. That’s what makes this page so stunning. Less is sometimes more.
First Day of Kindergarten – krash
This was one of my favorites. Maybe because I just sent my twinners off to kindergartent his year. I just loved how she extracted the main photo and centered it on the page. She also used a Massive Splat Mat to highlight her picture. I like the blended look she created with the mat. A very cool effect. Looks like he had a fun first day.
Thanks for looking and keep posting those Mintspirational layouts so you can be featured next week.

Hybrid Crafts[3] Comments
Claire (Shades of Bliss) here to walk you through a fun back to school project. My kids love to show their individuality at school. Maybe it’s the uniforms? So anyway that they can decorate their backpacks within the rules, they are all for it. They were excited when I made them these cool little personalized Backpack Tags for their back packs. It was super easy, and loads of fun.
1. Create a 3×9 Document. Your item will shrink down to a 1×3.
2. Design as you please. I choose Miss Mint’s cute Patchwork Princess for my daughter and Miss Mint’s Hey Dude for my son. Remember to keep it somewhat simple and bright colors work best. If you are using any words, make sure to flip horizontally before printing. Boost the color a bit before printing also.
3. Print your design onto Shrink Plastic and let dry for about 24 hrs. Cut out your design. Corners can become sharp and pokey so use a corner trimmer to trim them up. Don’t worry about cutting perfectly. Minor trimming mistakes will disappear when it is shrunk down. Remember if you do not like the design or made a mistake, you can run the Shrink Plastic under water and your design will wash off.
4. Highlight words or anything else by outlining with black permanent marker. Words look great outlined. Don’t worry about minor outlining mistakes. They will also disappear when the item is shrunk.
5. Punch a hole in the top where the chain will go through. I used a 3/8” hole punch. If you are using a ball and link chain, you will need to have a slightly larger hole.
6. Holding the tag down, blow with your embossing heating gun. It will curl up as it shrinks, but it will flatten out by the time it is finished. To flatten it completely, place under a flat surface while still hot. I used a metal ruler.
7. Spray Acrylic finish over the back to make it water proof.
8. You can also choose any little flower, or element to attach to the tag as well. Just make sure you keep in mind that your design will reduce to 1/3 its normal size. So for example, if you want a flower 1” in diameter, you need to print it out at 3”.
Try this today. Let your kids help design it. They will love showing off their one of a kind, personal Backpack Tags.

And despite intense questioning, bribing, begging and even some boycotting I haven’t cracked – until now. So without further ado…
