It’s Halloween! How fun! I hope you are all getting dressed up to give out candy or take the kids out trick or treating or to attend a fun Halloween party. I asked Mr. Mint if he wanted to go trick or treating and he just looked at me like I was out of my mind. I said “but if we wear masks nobody will know how old we are!” LOL! Anywho. Needless to say, no trick or treating for us. However, as promised, I DO have a trick AND a treat for you.
TRICK: Tutorial
I’m calling this one of digital scrapping’s biggest no no’s. Let’s call it a “Digi Faux Pas” (I think I’ll trademark that phrase!) and I see it done quite often when I’m browsing the galleries. I have to admit that it drives me a little bananas! LOL! So I’m posting a tutorial on how to prevent it.
And so my little chickie monkeys, here is your Halloween TRICK – a tutorial on resizing any object (or photo) while maintaining proportion. It’s a super simple thing to do!
Don’t forget that you can see all past tutorials on the TUTORIALS page. You will find a link on the right side of the page under PAGES. And now for your Halloween treat!
TREAT: Freebie
Take lots of pictures tonight and pick up these cute stamps to add to your Halloween layouts! Only available for a limited time.
Did you know that Nov. 3rd has officially been declared Digital Scrapbooking Day? Well it’s true! Not to be confused with National Scrapbooking Day, which falls in May and celebrates all scrapbookers, paper and digital alike, Digital Scrapbooking Day is a celebration of all things digital. Whoopie!!
So get rid of the kids and distract the men! Get ready to PAR-TAY all weekend at Peppermint Creative.
Holy excitment batman! I’ve got some great fall goodies lined up for you as well as some fun products to help you get started on your holiday gifts. Just keeping checking the blog for all the announcements and details.
And now, for some recent (yet random) team pages for your creative inspiration:
And of course before I go, I will leave you with a YouTube Tuesday that will have you laughing out loud. This is a clip from a comedy show that gets sidelined when the comedian asks three audience members to come on stage and the guy in the middle starts to laugh. Yes, that’s his real laugh. It’s worth watching ’till about 4 minutes in. Be sure your volume is up!
Be sure to check back tomorrow for a special Halloween Trick AND Treat!
I finally got my hands on my very own Hang and Level and I’ve got some GREAT news! Not only is it as fabulous and easy to use as I thought it would be, but it also now available in the U.S!
Hooray! Now we can all hang and level things all day long. In fact, I already ran out to Ikea to buy more frames to put on my office wall. If you missed my first post about this incredible product, go back and read it! No more waiting for your hubby to come home to do your dirty work. No more weeks and weeks of asking “Honey, did you hang those pictures yet?” I hung these frames in under 10 minutes with no aggrevation and no extra holes all over the wall. That’s right ladies – put away your polyfilla/spackle – Hang and Level to the rescue!!! Again I ask – why didn’t someone think of this sooner?
It works best with pictures that have a wire on the back. You can still use it with frames that have those foldable metal hooks (as my frames in the photos did) but it’s a tad more tricky but still a HECK of a lot easier than doing it with the Hang and Level. Also keep in mind that if you are doing a cluster of frames you have to work from the bottom up. So hang the lower frames first so that you have room to place the tool on the wall when you go to hang the next frame above it.
Anywho, for $19.99 you can’t go wrong. Check out their official website to purchase one or to find a retailer in your area.
Tune in tomorrow for details on what’s coming soon to Peppermint Creative!
Happy Hanging!
Has it already been a FULL WEEK since my last post? Is that even possible!@*?! Sheesh! Time is just flying by. I’m embarrassed to tell you how little I’ve accomplished this week design wise…so I won’t. ;)
I’ve got ideas and projects coming out the wazoo but there just never seems to be enough hours in the day. I wake up and before I know it, it’s time to go to bed. I don’t know where the time goes – honest!
I can’t believe that Halloween is only 5 days away. I LOVE this time of year. It’s SO much fun! I really want to buy costumes for the pets…if only for one goofy photo shoot but the mister won’t let me! LOL. Maybe next year. Wouldn’t it be fun to walk your dressed up dog down the street on Halloween night?
Speaking of Halloween (like my segue?) I decided to try a Halloween hybrid project. I created an invitation to my pretend Halloween party (yeah, I’m a dork…so what?) and also designed a basic envelope for it. Printed the whole thing out, cut it and cut a half circle out of the top of the envelope with a circle punch.
And while we’re still on the topic of Halloween, check out these fantastic pages from the uber talented scrappers who contribute the PC member gallery.
I’m SO excited! My Hanukkah Latkahs layout was published in the Scrapbook Trends Home for the Holidays Idea Book and I just recieved a copy today! Whoo hoo!
It’s my first published layout so I’m super excited about it and I just had to share!
Check it out:
The book is STUNNING! It’s just packed with tons of great holiday ideas. Everything from layouts to cards to projects and I can’t wait to sit down and flip through it and get inspired.
Here is the famous layout:
I’m still debating whether or not to do a new Hannukah kit this year. Any takers? It was REALLY fun to do but there isn’t a HUGE demand for it unfortunately. I’m definitely going to be doing calendars this year. I’m very excited to get started on that! I hope to have those ready for you asap. I know everyone wants to get started on their holiday gifts as early as possible. ACK! Can you believe we are talking about Christmas ALREADY??
I know it’s not Tuesday but I two funny videos for you!!!
One twin helps another…
This one cracks me up! This little boy must have seen people lick their fingers before turning the pages….but he doesn’t exactly seem to get it right.
It’s been just over two weeks since surgery and I’m happy to report that I am feeling pretty darn good. Now that the staples have been removed and I no longer look like a highschool science project, I’m starting to feel like myself again. Glad to be back at the computer and trying to get back in the swing of things. I’ve been on a MAD cleaning spree all week. I have this unbelievable need to go through all my cupboards, closets and drawers and clean, reorganize and throw things out. ::shrug:: I can’t stop myself! Poor Mr. Mint. All night I’ve been hollering at him “do you use this?”…”do you really need this?”…LOL! The man has more products than I do! Anywho – enough about that!
Check out these flippin’ FABULOUS pages the Mint Chicks have created with this year’s Halloween kit, Witches Brew. WOW! Halloween pages are SO much fun to scrap. I just wish I had more pictures!!!
